What is MapMaker?

MapMaker is a fast, native desktop application for creating dungeon maps, building layouts, and cave networks for your GameDesign project or tabletop RPG sessions. Built with performance in mind — no browser lag, no cloud dependency, everything runs locally.

Map Creation

• Draw rooms with Rectangle and Brush tools
• Place elements: doors, stairs, traps, treasures, NPCs, and more
• Create connections between rooms (6 types: passage, door, stairs, secret, teleport, bridge)
• Multi-floor maps with ghost layer to see adjacent levels
• Nested worlds (inception) for mega-dungeons and sub-areas

Customization

• Custom room types with colors and border styles
• Custom element types with SVG icons
• Custom properties on any entity (rooms, elements, connections)
• Import/export type packs to share with other creators
• Add your own SVG icons by dropping files in the config folder

Export

• PNG — High resolution (1x, 2x, 3x), transparent or colored background, choose what to include
• PDF — Structured document with cover page, table of contents, floor renders, room index, element index, and legend
